There are still people who raise their eyebrows when we tell them we have a beauty factory in Jokkmokk. But that's what we have – a fully equipped, modern and sustainably operated factory – right in the heart of Swedish Lapland.
When we founded c/o GERD, it was obvious to us that we would dig where we stand. We wanted to do this for real, with heart, craftsmanship and full control over the process – from idea to finished product. Then Jokkmokk was the natural choice. It is our hometown, the place where we were born and raised and where we draw our greatest inspiration.
We are children of nature. In our family, it has always been about taking advantage of what is around us – herbs bear roots, meat and fish. To refine with respect. We brought that spirit with us into our business. For us, outsourcing manufacturing was never an option – we wanted to own the entire process. Create conscious products with high functionality and as low an environmental impact as possible.
We started small. Everything was handmade and during the first few years it was our fantastic family who helped us. Mom Gerd, dad Alfons, our sister Ulrika and the nieces and nephews. When we didn't have any more family members to involve, we started hiring.
Today we are one of the world's northernmost beauty factories. Production still takes place in Jokkmokk – but now with modern machines that make the work more ergonomic and efficient. Yet each product is imbued with the craftsmanship and philosophy we started with.
In the spring of 2025, we are launching a campaign that we jokingly but sincerely call "Shop duty-free – directly from Jokkmokk". We want to remind you that you can get high-quality biodegradable and refillable products directly to your door – without passing through any customs warehouse. Just pure function, sustainability and consideration all the way.
So the next time you want to treat yourself to something really good for your skin or hair – choose Swedish-made, choose sustainable, choose Jokkmokk.
