Unlike a face cream, a facial oil is completely oil-based and consists of vegetable oils . Like a face cream, it nourishes and balances the skin but has some extra properties due to its structure. Different types of oil have different molecular sizes, which means that they can penetrate the skin in different ways. For example, an oil with large molecules has more difficulty penetrating the skin, while an oil with smaller molecules can go deeper. Therefore, a facial oil has several beneficial properties for the skin when it comes to moisturizing.
Why should I use facial oil in my skincare routine?
A facial oil is perfect to use when the skin needs extra nourishment and hydration . To help the skin maintain its own natural balance, it is a good choice to include in your skin care routine. Since a facial oil is also completely water-free, it is ideal during the colder seasons. Unlike a face cream, an oil will act as a protective layer as it does not freeze on the skin.
How often should I use facial oil?
Everyone has different needs for hydration and nutrition and may therefore need to apply different amounts. It is therefore up to you and your skin's unique needs how often and how much you need to apply. For example, dry skin may absorb faster and need to be applied morning and evening, while less dry skin may only need to be applied in the evening.
